You may think of a
desert when you hear
"Yuma, Arizona," but
a happy herd of
healthy Boer goats
would argue with you
about that. Good
News Farm is an
oasis with singing
birds, fountains,
beautiful flowers
and vines, and its
very own field of
alfalfa. Also
playground equipment
for goats. Colleen
Scott and her
daughter April Fair
keep their goats in
excellent condition
and regularly win
shows. By now they
must have built a
special little house
to display all those
ribbons and
trophies.
We came to know
Colleen and April
many years ago when
we went to a show on
the Del Mar
racetrack in
California, and they
are one of the
reasons we have
always been glad we
went to that show.
They have used 7A+
billies with their
Boer goats since
that time. First
there was 7A+
Sackett who is best
remembered as the
"Marshmallow
Monster." We bought
him back from them
when they could not
use him any longer.
Through the mail
came a sack of
marshmallows for
Sackett. John
innocently walked
into Sackett's pen
with the
marshmallows.
Sackett rushed at
him with so much
delight John threw
the marshmallows at
him and ran out of
the pen.
The next billy was
Louis L'Amour's
Legend, then Painted
Warrior. The next
billy for their herd
is running around
here somewhere now.
Colleen has a
horsewoman's eye for
confirmation so he
better be good.
