The kid, TweedleDee by
name, loved to climb on
a rock wall and dance
around. The donkey,
Rooster, would walk up
next to the wall and let
the kid jump on his back
to dance. Both animals
loved the game, and the
back dance took place
many times a day.
In Judy's words, "Tweedle
has since gone to Heaven
and Rooster is now
approaching 21 years of
age." Rooster
still wakes Judy up
every morning by
sticking his head up
against her window and
braying or by knocking
on the back porch door
with his hoof -- his way
of begging for attention
and his morning slice of
apple or dog biscuit.
We're not sure whether
being named after an
early morning crow-er
influenced the donkey's
behavior, or whether his
morning alarm call
caused him to be named
Rooster. When Judy goes
to the door and opens
it, she is greeted by an
assortment of loving
animals that remind one
of the Musicians of
Bremen. |
