To put one picture of a show winner for Good
News Farm in Yuma, Arizona, is just to show
the tip of a really big iceberg. Colleen
and April work hard and have their goats in
show condition year round. Here a 7A+
Sackett daughter - GNF Vixie- shows some of
the ribbons that marked her progress to
Permanent Grand Champion with the USBGA.
Good News Farm is the home of many Champions
sired by 7A+ billies. We are proud of their
accomplishments!

At
the International Boer Goat Association
Eastern Regional Show 7A+ Lakota won Reserve
Grand Champion Yearling Buck. The David Deas
Family of York, South Carolina, bought him
when he was just six months old. Lakota is a
son of Honey Girl and Liveoak. Left to
right are Laura Deas, Janette Deas, Brandon
Deas, David Deas, Apprentice Judge Holly
McShane, and Senior Judge Don Smith. |

Udder
End Farms of Rangeley, Colorado, gave
7A+ Sugar Dandy time off from his job as
main herd sire to enter two shows in
2003. He brought home Grand Champion
medallions from both, and his son Ezra
added a medallion of his own. Jeannie
and Rose Peterson got Dandy to pose with
his ribbons. Sugar Dandy
was Reserve Grand Champion Senior
Buck at IBGA Western Regionals (Steve
Evans), and Reserve Grand
Champion Senior Buck at the MSMGA
Showcase (Mountain States Meat Goat
Association) in Blackfoot, ID (John
Edwards). Ezra was Reserve Grand
Champion Yearling Buck at Utah State
Fair (Joe Raff).
(Note: 7A+
Sugar Dandy died in April, 2004. We
share in the Petersons' grief;
not only was he a champion, Sugar
Dandy was a loveable goat.)

Another winner at the Eastern Regional Show
was 7A+ Bonanza who sold to Joel Pedigo of
Pedigoat Junction Boers at Tomkinsville,
Kentucky. Bonanza won first in his class of
Senior Bucks. |

We
finally made our annual show effort and were
delighted to win eleven Grand or Reserve Grand
Championships with five goats. We only took
seven goats all together, and six of those won
blue ribbons. We went to Liveoak, Florida, to
two shows on consecutive days with two
different judges. |
|
|
Honey Girl won Grand Champion Senior Doe, and
her two-year-old daughter Crystaldew won
Reserve Grand Champion Senior Doe. Honey Girl
considered it appropriate for her to hold the
medallion since she won it, but John tried to
get it away from her. We can tell which
medallion is hers because it was slightly
mangled in the tug-of-war. Robbie Melton,
owner of the East Coast Fitting Service, is
holding Crystaldew. |

All three billies won two Championship
medallions each, even the baby, Culpepper. He
is the two-month-old son of Paintbrush and
Liveoak. Next to him is Alazan, the yearling
son of Honey Girl and Liveoak. (We thought
it would bring good luck to Liveoak sons to go
to a show in Liveoak, Florida, and we were
right!) Robbie Melton, of North Carolina,
is holding Trail Boss. |
|
|
Trail Boss, raised by Paul Payne of Tampa,
Texas, was named not only Grand Champion
Senior Buck one day and Reserve Grand Champion
Senior Buck the next day, but also Overall
Grand Champion Buck the first day and Overall
Reserve Grand Champion Senior Buck the second
day. |

Folks,
since our schedule and our lack of expertise in the
show ring keep us from going to many shows and
bringing home many awards, we have decided to borrow
some excitement from our customers to dress up this
page! Some of our customers share the fun with
us when they do well in shows by sending us news and
pictures, so with their permission we will put those
pictures on this page when the win was with a goat
we raised or a kid from two 7A+ goats. |

The Jacksons in Kentucky |
Calvin and Ann Jackson won Grand
Champion Yearling Doe at the Morehead,
Kentucky, Boer Goat Show May 4th with Haley,
their 6-month-old nanny kid from 7A+ Durango
and 7A+ Celestine. Calvin is holding 7A+ Lily
Dache, who placed second in her class. The
judge told Calvin that Lily would have done
better if she had been a little better
conditioned, so Calvin took Lily home and told
her to "Eat!" The Jacksons own Showboat Farms
at Manchester, Kentucky. Their website is

The Millers in Louisiana |
The first one we’ve heard about this year is from
Mike, Lea, Kristan and Cody Miller, at 429 West
Precht Road in Bell City, Louisiana, with their
two-year-old billy 7A+ Mojave, whom we raised here
from 7A+ Larissa and DSM Snorty. They have shown
Mojave six times, and they’ve won Overall Grand
Champion every time. We’re impressed!

The Gaspards in Louisiana
|
A
neighbor of the Millers won Overall Grand
Champion the first time they showed their
yearling nanny, 7A+ Starsong. We raised her
from DSM Starshine and DSM Rutty. Remington Gaspard showed Starsong while Brent, Kelly and
Keziah Gaspard cheered him on. We appreciate
all these people doing so well at growing out
and showing off the goats they buy from us!
